Three Little Pennies
Recorded by Doug Stone
Written by Kim Tribble and Tim Bays
G
There was an old blind man who
C
stood on the
G
corner

down
C
town
G

Am

D7

He was
G
holding a cup filled up with nothing

From the
C
Christmas

G
shopping

Am
crowd
D7

And though I
C
barely came up to the
D7
top of his cane

I
C
reached up and gave him every
D7
cent to my name
G
Three little
D7
pennies were
C
all that I
G
had
C
One that I'd
G
found

Am
two from my
D7
dad
G
Three little
D7
pennies not
C
much of a
G
gift

But
Am
dad said that's
G
plenty if it's
D7
all you can
C
giv
G

Am

D7

That
G
evening my dad
C
told a wonderful
G
story to
C
me

Am

D7

Bout a
G
Child and the manger the wise men who came

Bearing
C
gifts on the
G
first Christmas
Am
Eve

D7

There
C
was a part I'm
D7
sure he made up

Bout a
C
stable boy who
D7
couldn't give much
Repeat #2

Next
G
morning was Christmas
C
and I had prayed
G
hard for a
C
bike
G

Am

D7

But
G
all that I found was the tiniest box

With
C
three shiny
G
pennies

Am
inside
D7

And I was
C
so disappointed because
D7
I had been good

But
C
times had been bad so
D7

understood

And daddy said
G
three little
D7
pennies were
C
all that you
G
had

But you
C
gave them
G
freely so I
Am
gave 'em
D7
back
G
Three little
D7
pennies is not
C
much of a
G
gift

Your
Am
bike is
G
outside because
D7
you've learned how to
G
give
