Put My Little Shoes Away
Recorded by Hank Snow
Written by Samuel Mitchell and Charles E. Pratt
C
Mother dear
F
come bathe my
C
forehead

For I'm growing very
G7
weak
C
Mother let
F
one drop of
C
water

Fall up
G7
on my burning
C
cheek

Tell my
F
loving little
C
playmates

That I never more shall
G7
play
C
Give them
F
all my toys but
C
mother

Put my
G7
little shoes
C
away
F
You will do this mother
C
won't

you

Put my little shoes
G7
away
C
Give them
F
all my toys but
C
mother

Put my
G7
little shoes
C
away

Santa Claus
F
he brought them
C
to

me

With a lot of other
G7
things
C
And I think
F
he brought an
C
angel

With a
G7
pair of golden
C
wings

Mother
F
soon I'll be an
C
angel

By perhaps another
G7
day
C
So if you
F
will my dearest
C
mother

Put my
G7
little shoes
C
away
Repeat #3

The Hank Snow Museum in Liverpool, Nova Scotia, celebrates his life and work in a province where his fans still see him as an inspirational figure who triumphed over personal adversity to become one of the most influential artists in all of country music.
