The band it was playing the
C
Star Spangled Waltz

The
D7
lights in the ballroom were
G
low

Oh twas sweet to my ears I
C
fought back my tears

For that
G
waltz broke my
D7
heart long
G
ago

My
C
sweetheart grew jealous as I
G
danced with a friend

And
A7
said that my love had grown
D7
false

Then she
G
told me goodbye neath that
C
old southern sky

As we
G
danced to the
D7
Star Spangled
G
Waltz

Then a face caught my eye as the
C
dancers passed by

It
D7
was my sweetheart who left me to
G
pine

As she whispered my name I could
C
see oh so plain

That her
G
heart it was
D7
broken like
G
mine

Love had
C
won its last fight as I
G
kissed her that night

As
A7
I did in the days long
D7
ago

We had
G
found new romance though we
C
cried as we danced

To the
G
beautiful

D7
Star Spangled
G
Waltz
