The Answer To The Blue Velvet Band
Written and Recorded by Hank Snow
C
By an old willow tree
C7
in the
F
churchyard

On the
C
banks of the old Rio
G7
Grande

Lies a
C
loved one who
C7
died broken
F
hearted

She was
C
known as the
G7
Blue Velvet
C
Band

She was called by the
C7
angels up
F
yonder

As the
C
dew kissed the pale summer
G7
rose

As we
C
stood there in
C7
silence

be
F
side

her

These
C
words to her
G7
lover did
C
go

Dear Jack you mis
C7
trusted your
F
darling

You
C
said that my love wasn't
G7
true

You've
C
roamed o'er the
C7
wide open
F
spaces

But my
C
thoughts they were
G7
always of
C
you

Now my last wish was once
C7
more to see
F
you

But
C
they say you're in some foreign
G7
land

You're
C
forgiveness is
C7
in this last
F
message

From
C
your heartbroken
G7
Blue Velvet
C
Band

Far away o'er the
C7
lone western
F
prairie

Her
C
message sped fast o'er the
G7
way

To the
C
side of a
C7
bed where her
F
cowboy

Was
C
grieving his
G7
life fast
C
away

Please grant a last wish
C7
boys and
F
lay

me

Out
C
west on that old Rio
G7
Grande

Neath
C
that old willow
C7
tree in the
F
churchyard

By my
C
sweetheart the
G7
Blue Velvet
C
Band
