C
She's twistin' the ring on her finger

She's watchin' the
G7
clock on the
C
wall

She's
F
hopin' when it finally
C
hits him he's
Am
wrong

He'll
C
come to his senses and
G7
give her a
C
call
Across town he's in a hotel room

He can't keep his
G7
eyes off the
C
phone

He's
F
thinking that soon she'll
C
break down and
Am
call

To
C
tell him she's sorry and
G7
beg him back
C
home

There's a
F
lonesome fool waiting on each
C
end of the line

There's a measure of
D7
blame on both
G7
sides

Until
C
each heart is willing
C7
there's no hope at
F
all

Cause
C
love builds the bridges but
G7
pride builds the
C
walls
The longer they wait on each other

The harder it
G7
gets to give
C
in

They're
F
too proud to see they're just
C
one call
Am
away

From
C
putting their world back
G7
together

C
again
repeat #3

Until each heart is willing
C7
there's no hope at
F
all

Cause
C
love builds the bridges but
G7
pride builds the
C
walls
