[G]Tryin’ to make a livin’ that’s the bottom line
It [Gm]ain’t easy trying to stretch a nickel into a [G]dime
Sweatin’ for the dollar workin’ for the man
[Gm]Half goes to the landlord Lord and half to Uncle [G]Sam
I can’t [C]get no consolation I don’t get no paid vacation
I can’t [G]get no satisfaction and my tractor don’t get no traction
Just [C]doin’ the best I can just tryin’ to make a stand
[G]Laughing and crying [D7]living and dyin’ on down the [G]line
I’ll leave my soul to Jesus I give my heart to you
If [Gm]you want the rest of me well darlin’ you can have that [G]too
Only love can save me so darlin’ don’t delay
If [Gm]I don’t get your lovin’ soon I swear I’m gonna die [G]today
If I were a rich girl it wouldn’t be the same
[Gm]I’d buy me a Cadillac and then I’d change my [G]name
A poor girl’s dream inside me and you by my side
[Gm]We drive into the sunset ride sweet baby [G]ride
[D7]On down the [G]line [D7]on down the [G]line
[D7]On down the [G]line [D7]on down the [G]line[/chordpress]
