Recorded by Patty Loveless
Written by Richard Thompson
[C]It was [A7]three in the mornin’ when he took me apart
He [D7]wrecked my house and he wrecked my heart
He [A7]danced on my head like Arthur Murray
The [D7]scars ain’t never goin’ to mend in a hurry
Just [G7]when I thought that things would get better
[C]Right through the door came a tear stained letter
[E7]Whoa oh [F]oh Lord Lord [G7]cry and cry if it makes you feel better
[C]Set it all down in a tear stained letter
[E7]Whoa oh [F]oh Lord Lord [G7]cry and cry if it makes you feel better
[C]Set it all down in a tear stained letter
Well my [A7]head was spinnin’ just a little to fast
It was [D7]writin’ checks that my body couldn’t cash
I [A7]jumped to my feet I was reelin’ and a dizzy
I [D7]went for the phone but the line was busy
Repeat #2
Now I [A7]like coffee and I like tea
But I [D7]just don’t like this feelin’ in me
It [A7]makes me nervous it gives me the hives
[D7]Looking for the truth in a pack of lies
repeat #2
[E7]Whoa oh [F]oh Lord Lord [G7]cry and cry if it makes you feel better
[C]Set it all down in a [G7]tear stained [C]letter
[E7]Whoa oh [F]oh Lord Lord [G7]cry and cry if it makes you feel better
[C]Set it all down in a tear stained letter[/chordpress]
