Mary and she
F
thought she loved

him

But she found she had a
G7
cold

cheater'
C

heart

And that
G7
life out on the farm ain'
C
t what she had in mind

When she
F
promised to
D7
honor and
G7
obey

So she
C
took to runnin'
E7
'ro
F
und all o

ver

town

Ain't it funny ho
G7
w life turns out tha
C

way

The years have tumbled
E7
by Bobby
F
turned an ol' blin
C

eye

To the things he
D7
hoped just weren'
G7

true

And then
C
came that fateful
E7
day when
F
he had been
C
away

Oh they say he came
G7
home just too
C
soon

He
G7
found them lying there oh it was
C
more than he could bear

He found a
F
gun she
D7
cried don't b

rash

But two
C
shots filled the
E7
air he
F
stood right there and
C
stared

The deed was done it was
G7
over in a
C
flash

That old judge looked down and
E7
sighed he said
F
Bobby you'll have t
C

die

The law is clear and it
D7
must take its
G7
toll

Think

C

run

And may God have
G7
mercy on your
C
soul

On a
G7
cold November morn in a
C
prison so forlorn

The warden
F
prayed as
D7
did the parson
G7
too

And the
C
crowd gathered
E7
there they
F
heard him loud and
C
clear

His final words were
G7
Mary I love
C
you
