C
I was there when she
C7
fell for the
F
first

time

I picked her
G7
up and saw the heartache in her
C
eyes

I guess I knew right
C7
then how little
F
chance I had to win

But can'
G7
t nobody say I didnâ
C
€™t

try

She was nineteen years
C7
old and already
F
lonely

Lord
G7
only knows how many men she'
C

tried

Why she went from man to
C7
man

I'l
F
l never understand

But can'
G7
t nobody say I didnâ
C
€™t

try

I
F
thought that I was just the man to
C
tame

her

And
G7
save her from the wild side of
C
life

But the
F
wild side had already
C
claimed

her

Living
D7
way out on the edge that's what sh
G7

loves

I
C
read something in a
C7
book once about
F
women

Like a
G7
rose they last while they
C
last

But she only blooms at
C7
night there
F
under the neon lights

But can'
G7
t nobody say I didnâ
C
€™t

try

She only blooms at
C7
night there
F
under the neon lights

But can'
G7
t nobody say I didnâ
C

try
