Forever Was The Name Of Our Sunshine

G
Happy was the feelin' that you
D7
gave me when we met
C
Tender was the touch that caused my
D7
heart to fall in
G
debt

Gentle was the hand that reached and
D7
placed a ring on mine

And for
C
ever was the
D7
name of our
G
sunshine

Breakin' was the sound that stopped the
D7
singin' in my heart

Hurtin' was the emptiness that
C
taught me how to
G
cry

Sadness was the unexpected
C
wind that blew so hard

Leavin' nothin' but a memory of the
D7
time

When for
C
ever was the
D7
name of our
G
sunshine

Patience was the burden that grew
D7
heavier

inside
C
Conscience was a part of you that
D7
you could never
G
hide

Gladness was the traveler that would
D7
soon pass through our minds

And
C
over was the
D7
name of our
G
sunshine

Breakin' was the sound that stopped the
D7
singin' in my heart

Hurtin' was the emptiness that
C
taught me how to
G
cry

Sadness was the unexpected
C
wind that blew so hard

Leavin' nothin' but a memory of the
D7
time

When for
C
ever was the
D7
name of our
G
sunshine

Hits including "If You Ain't Lovin' (You Ain't Livin')" and "Live Fast, Love Hard, Die Young" marked him as a honky-tonk singer in sound and personal style and his chart-topping singles "Hello Walls" and "It's Four in the Morning" showed his versatility as a vocalist.
