The Restless One
Written and Recorded by Hank Snow

G
This old train is
C
speeding

south
G
bound and her
D7
whistle moans the
G
blues

And my heart's as
C
cold as the
G
ice and snow that
D7
fills these walking
G
shoes

That
C
old smoke stack keeps barking back to me and seems to
G
say

We'll carry you
D7
on oh Restless
G
One

I had mushed my
C
way on a husky
G
sleigh to the
D7
land of midnight
G
sun

And I kissed the
C
squaw at the
G
wigwam door many
D7
times I faced a
G
gun

Brown
C
Eskimo didn't want me to go when I told her I must
G
run

And she gave me the
D7
name of the Restless
G
One

Then I strolled
C
into a
G
tavern in that
D7
frozen land
G
afar

Where I met a
C
beautiful Indian
G
maid she was
D7
known as the Morning
G
Star

Her
C
eyes were bright like the Northern Lights when they chase the Arctic
G
moon

And I knew she was
D7
born for the Restless
G
One

As we danced I
C
gently kissed
G
her in the
D7
path of the morning
G
sun

Love was sweet
C
and oh so
G
blissful with a
D7
romance just
G
begun

The
C
restless one had gone and fell in love with the Yukon
G
Queen

And she fell in
D7
love with the Restless
G
One

Through the door
C
came an angry
G
red-skin on his
D7
head was a beaded
G
band

I was courting the
C
wife of an Indian
G
chief who
D7
ruled with an iron
G
hand

With a
C
knife he run but I pulled my gun and I shot him to the
G
floor

Then the hunt
D7
began for the Restless
G
One

Many days and
C
nights they
G
trailed me out
D7
under the northern
G
sky

Where the wild
C
birds song was
G
mournful and the
D7
timber wolf did
G
cry

But they
C
tracked me down and I'm Frisco bound I've made my final
G
run

It's the end of the
D7
line for the Restless
G
One

It's the end of the
D7
line for the Restless
G
One
