I Can't Quit Drinking Song Lyrics and Chords by Johnny Paycheck

I Can't Quit Drinking
Recorded by Johnny Paycheck
Written by Harlan Sanders and Larry Kingston
3/4 time
C
They could quit making
F
whiskey

They could stop stomping
C
grapes

It wasn't for fools like
D7
me

With hearts that
G7
break

They could close all the
F
breweries

And they could look up the
C
bars

If it wasn't for women like
F
you

Who
G7
leaves loving
C
scars

And I can't quit
F
drinking

Lord knows I've
C
tried

I'm gonna
A7
wear this whiskey glass stare

Till my memories go
G7
blind
C
Now I can't quit
F
drinking

And it will kill me they
C
say

And if Heaven's sweet
A7
shores

Has swinging
F
doors

I'll
G7
find it some
C
day

You know I thought it all
F
over

And I still don't under
C
stand

With millions of women

How could
A7
one mean so much to a
G7
man

Women and
F
whiskey they're so much
C
alike

Cause just when you need 'em the
F
most

You're
G7
left high and
C
dry

Repeat #3,4

Yes if Heaven's sweet
A7
shores

Has swinging
F
doors

I'll
G7
find it some
C
day

He achieved his greatest success in the 1970s as a force in country music's "outlaw movement" popularized by artists Hank Williams Jr., Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Billy Joe Shaver, and Merle Haggard.
