C
She was sortin’ through some letter
F
s he’d kept beneath their bed

And
G7
read the one he’d written her the week before he
C
left

It was the only way he
C7
knew to
F
make one last request

Of the
G7
one who stood beside him till they laid his soul to
C
rest

I want someone to love you
C7
when I’m gone from
F
here

I want someone
G7
beside you to dry every
C
tear

G7

I know when I
C
leave you
C7
your heart will
F
be

blue

If it brings you
G7
peace dear I want someone to
F
love

C
you

She could barely read his writing on
F
the paper stained with tears

But
G7
she felt his love in every line as he shared his greatest
C
fear

He said honey I can’t
C7
bear the thought
F
of you here all alone

I
G7
hope you’ll find somebody to help you carry
C
on
Repeat #2

If it brings you
G7
peace dear I want someone to
F
love

C
you
