She Will Get Lonesome
Written and recorded by Ira and Charles Louvin
C
I told my heart last night you were gone

And it started pleading with
G7
me
Go tell the stars and they will twinkle

And make her lonesome and
C
dream

Please Mister Moon
F
let the
C
stars
G7
Come out and play until the breaking of
C
day
And they will twinkle and my baby will see them

And she will get lonesome and
G7
come back home to
C
me
The moon said yes I'll let them play

And twinkle with all their
G7
might
If you'll get the clouds to hide my face

From this lonesome
C
night

Please Mister Wind
F
blow the
C
clouds
G7
They'll hide the moon from the lonesome
C
night
Then the stars will twinkle and my baby will see them

And she will get lonesome and
G7
come back home to
C
me
Then the wind blew the clouds and hid the moon

The stars all twinkled so
G7
bright
But there in a flash my whole world crashed

When I got heaven's
C
reply

They told my you'd
F
found someone
C
new
G7
And there was nothing they could
C
do

Then I
G7
told the stars and they quit twinkling

They told the moon and it began to
C
cry
The moon told the wind and it began to moan

The wind told the clouds and by and
F
by
G7
The rain came falling
C
down

Who is The Louvin Brothers?
- The Louvin Brothers were an American musical duo composed of brothers Ira (April 21, 1924 - June 20, 1965) and Charlie (July 7, 1927 - January 26, 2011) Louvin (né Loudermilk). The brothers are cousins to John D. Loudermilk, a Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame member.
The brothers wrote and performed secular country music, as well as fire-and-brimstone gospel music. Ira played virtuoso mandolin and generally sang lead vocal in the tenor range, while Charlie played rhythm guitar and offered supporting vocals in a lower pitch. They helped popularize the vocal technique of close harmony in country and country-rock.After becoming regulars at the Grand Ole Opry and scoring a string of hit singles in the late 1950s and early '60s, the Louvin Brothers broke up in 1963 due in large part to Charlie growing tired of Ira's addictions and reckless behavior. Ira died in a traffic accident in 1965. They were inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 2001, and Charlie died of cancer in 2011. Rolling Stone ranked the Louvin Brothers No. 4 on its list of the 20 Greatest Duos of All Time.
