C
You know a
F
smile never goes out of style

So
C
brighten up the one that you wear

Let it
F
shine and you just might find

You'll
C
lighten up the load that you bear

You
Am
know with all the trouble and
G7
sorrow in the world

It
F
seems like the least we can
G7
do

Just
C
take that smile
G7
into the street

And
C
share it with everybody you meet

Everyday (everyday) I want to shake somebody's
F
hand

Everyday (
C
everyday) I want make somebody
F
know (that thinks they can)
That they can (yes they can)

Every
C
day (everyday) I want to
G7
try (I want to try)
C
To show my brothers and
F
sisters that I
C
want to help them
G7
along the way
C
Everyday

F
every
C
day

You know a
F
kind word never goes unheard

But
C
too often goes unsaid

And on the
F
tongue of the old and the young

Gets
C
swallowed up with pride instead
Repeat #2,3

If they're lost I want to
Am
show them the
C
sunshine

If they're tossed I want t
Am
o throw them
C

lifeline

I want the reach out my
Am
hand (reach out) a
C
hand to hold

Oh yeah and let 'em
F
know (let 'em know) there's a light

(that there's light)
G7
down at the end of the road
C
If they're lost I want to
Am
show them the
C
sunshine

If they're tossed I want t
Am
o throw them
C

lifeline
Repeat #3 x2

Who is The Oak Ridge Boys?
- The Oak Ridge Boys is an American country and gospel vocal quartet. The group was founded in the 1940s as the Oak Ridge Quartet. They became popular in southern gospel during the 1950s. Their name was changed to the Oak Ridge Boys in the early 1960s, and they remained a gospel group until the mid-1970s, when they changed their image and concentrated on country music. The lineup which produced their most well-known country and crossover hits (such as "Elvira" (1981), "Bobbie Sue" (1982), and "American Made" (1983) consists of Duane Allen (lead), Joe Bonsall (tenor), William Lee Golden (baritone), and Richard Sterban (bass). Golden and Allen joined the group in the mid-1960s, and Sterban and Bonsall joined in the early 1970s. Aside from an eight-year gap (1987-95) when Golden left the group and was replaced, this lineup has been together since 1973 and continues to tour and record.
